Our Process
Clarity Before Action
Financial decisions improve when the process is clear.
Too often, advisory relationships begin without structure—conversations drift, scope is undefined, and recommendations are made before the foundation is fully understood.
We take a different approach.
Our process is designed to define the relationship first, then execute with clarity and purpose.
Start a Conversation
Every relationship begins with a brief conversation.
When you schedule a “Start a Conversation,” we connect by phone to understand your situation at a high level and determine whether there is a basis for working together.
What We Cover
- Your current situation
- What prompted you to reach out
- Your goals, needs, and priorities
- Whether our approach is a good fit
This is a focused discussion—not a consultation or planning session.
Purpose
Determine whether it makes sense to move forward.
If there is a fit, we schedule a Discovery Meeting.
Discovery Meeting
Defining the Relationship
The Discovery Meeting is where we determine how we will work together.
This is not a planning session and not a presentation of solutions. Its purpose is to understand your situation well enough to define the role we will play.
What We Focus On
- Your financial structure and priorities
- Key challenges, opportunities, and constraints
- Your desired level of involvement in decisions
- Where guidance, structure, or management is needed
We gather only what is necessary to make a clear, informed decision.
Defining the Role
Based on this conversation, we determine the role we will serve:
- Money Manager
- Investment Planner
- Financial Planner
- Wealth Manager
The role defines the scope — not the other way around.
What Happens Next
If there is a fit, we schedule an Engagement Meeting to formalize the relationship and begin the work.
Engagement Meeting
Formalizing the Relationship
The Engagement Meeting is where the relationship becomes operational.
By this stage, the role has already been defined. This meeting formalizes the relationship and begins the work immediately.
What Happens in This Meeting
- Review and formalize the advisory relationship
- Confirm scope, structure, and expectations
- Begin gathering the information needed to proceed
What happens next depends on the role we are serving.
If Serving as Money Manager
When our services are limited to investment management, we present a fully developed investment proposal and, if approved, move directly into implementation.
- Finalizing the investment strategy
- Establishing an Investment Policy Agreement
- Executing a management agreement
- Beginning to gather the personal and financial information required to establish accounts and implement the strategy
If Providing Planning Services
We present a planning engagement designed around your needs and the role defined in Discovery.
- A clear outline of the planning process
- Defined scope and areas of focus
- Proposed fee and engagement structure
If we move forward, we formalize the agreement and begin organizing the information needed to proceed.
Coordinated Services
In many cases, planning and investment management are coordinated as part of the relationship, depending on your needs and the role we serve.
What Happens Next
Once the relationship is formalized, we move directly into execution.
Investment Management
- Gather the personal and financial information needed to establish accounts
- This may occur during the Engagement Meeting or through follow-up conversations
- Prepare and deliver account documentation for secure eSignature, or review in person if preferred
Once documentation is complete, accounts are opened, funded, and the investment strategy is implemented.
Planning Engagement
- Provide access to our planning portal
- Guide you through structured data gathering and organization
- Continue refining information until we have a complete and accurate foundation
From there, we move into plan development and review.
Why This Matters
Most firms blur these steps—mixing discovery, planning, and recommendations into a single conversation.
- Initial Call → Determine fit
- Discovery → Define the role
- Engagement → Begin the work
This structure reduces confusion, improves outcomes, and ensures every recommendation is made within a clearly defined scope.
